Investing Myth Exposed: “I just don’t have the time.”

After investing for awhile you, like me will confronted with statements or beliefs that discourage or keep people from investing as they should.  Every so often I will be addressing the most frequently stated myths in my industry.

Foundational Truth – “We are all investors!”

The real question is “What are you investing in?”  This is something to consider at all levels: personally, spiritually, professionally and financially.  Let’s be honest, we are a busy society, period.  Nonetheless, as this blog is highlighting there are ways to stop trading hours for dollars and to create residual income for yourself and your family that can allow you to have even more time to use doing the things that you want to do.  If you can invest a little time wisely it could allow you to have way more in the future.  As Ron LeGrand, a noted investor and teacher loves to say “The less I do, the more I make.”  What he means by this is the more systemized your business is where you are only involved in those aspects that ONLY you can do you will find your business making more money and allowing you to work smarter and not harder.

My days as a Global Account Manager at FedEx helped me to learn this quickly.  I serviced 10 major accounts worldwide, and if I were to try and attempt to do it all, it would never happen.  I managed over $30-$50 million of business and it became apparent quickly that knowing who to call for help and having them provide it and setting up systems for my accounts to be services freed me up to handle only the most critical elements – mainly contract negotiation and closing business.

No matter if you are involved in real estate or running a small business, having systems set up that are measurable, repeatable and effective will be helpful in freeing time to do what you really want in and out of your business.  We only live once so let’s make the most of it.

Even without going virtual you can set up criteria for realtors to email you directly property listings, REO’s and heavily discounted property.  Basically, if you can read, analyze and make a few calls from those emails then the world is truly your oyster – now go find some pearls!
